Decoding Rs 700 Crore Wedding: Isha Ambani Weds Anand Piramal

On December 12th, India witnessed one of the grandest, costliest weddings ever happened in the country: Isha Ambani, daughter of business tycoon Mukesh Ambani married Anand Piramal, the heir of the Piramal Group in Mumbai.

As per media reports, this wedding had a budget of $100 million or Rs 700 crore.

While pre-wedding celebration started in Udaipur on December 7th, the actual wedding happened on December 12th in Mumbai, and a huge reception has been planned on December 14th.

The Wedding Invitation: Rs 3,00,000 Each

As per reports, the wedding invitation which was sent to guests cost Rs 3,00,000 each. Each wedding invite was adorned with necklaces and precious stones which were stacked in a two-tier floral box.

A Glimpse Of The Grandeur

As per media reports, Mukesh Ambani left no stone unturned to make the wedding celebration truly memorable.

To ensure that no guest was left out, the Ambani family booked 40 chartered flights for the wedding.

During the pre-wedding celebrations, Ambani and Piramal family had booked all the 5-star hotels in Udaipur, and more than 1000 luxurious, ultra-expensive cars such as Jaguars, Porches, Mercedes, Audis and BMWs were made available for the guests.

Hillary Clinton, Beyonce Graced The Occasion

The Clintons and the Ambanis share an 18-year old friendship, and this was clearly evident as Hillary Clinton attended both the pre-wedding bash at Udaipur and the wedding on December 12th.

Beyoncé, the American pop superstar set the stage on fire in Udaipur, where she gave a private performance. As per previous estimations, Beyonce charges $3-4 million for each private performance, which translates to Rs 21 to Rs 28 crore.

Other celebrities which were present include Saudi Arabia Oil Minister Khalid al-Falih, steel tycoon Lakshmi Mittal, cricketer Sachin Tendulkar, Chairman of Tata Sons, Ratan Tata and Raymond Group Gautam Singhania.

Entire Bollywood Was Present

During the pre-bash wedding celebrations in Udaipur, who-is-who of Bollywood was present, which included Priyanka Chopra, Shahrukh Khan, Aamir Khan, Karan Johar, Javed Akhtar, Salman Khan, Ranveer Singh, Ranbir Kapoor and Aditya Roy Kapur to Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Deepika Padukone, Kiara Advani, Karisma Kapoor and Katrina Kaif and others.

Videos have emerged wherein these top Bollywood superstars are seen dancing on the stage, with Ambani family, and celebrating the occasion.

Extravagant Reception Planned

An extravagant, larger than life reception has been planned on December 14th at the Jio Garden, Bandra Kurla Complex, Mumbai. As per reports, the reception invite has a handwritten letter by Isha and Anand to add that personal touch.

An entire music concert has been planned, which will start at 7.30. Some of the biggest Bollywood celebrities, sports personalities, and industrialists are expected to attend the reception.

Wedding Gift For Isha Ambani, Anand Piramal

As per another set of reports, Piramal family has spent Rs 450 crore to purchase a five-story sea-facing bungalow in Worli, as a wedding gift for the newlywed couple.

Reportedly, Isha and Anand will shift over to this new house post-wedding reception.

Isha Ambani right now lives in the 27-storey Antilia in Mumbai, is the world’s most expensive house, and 2nd most expensive private property after Buckingham Palace.

Gratitude For Udaipur: Helping The Needy

As a show of gratitude to Udaipur, Ambani family donated food for more than 5100 people, which can feed them 3 meals a day, for 4 days.

Besides, a special Swadesh Bazaar was established to help local artisans. As per the statement released by an initiative of the Reliance Foundation, this special Bazaar helped to showcase “108 traditional Indian Crafts and art forms from all different regions of the country for the national and international guests”,

Piramal Group has interests in healthcare, life sciences, drug discovery, healthcare information management, specialty glass packaging, financial services, and real estate, and as of 2017, the group was worth $5.4 billion. Anand Piramal is the founder of Piramal Realty, which recently raised Rs 2700 crore from International investors.

Anand has also founded Piramal eSwasthya, a rural healthcare initiative that treats 40,000 patients a day.

Meanwhile, Mukesh Ambani is not only India’s but Asia’s richest person, as his total wealth surpassed Jack Ma’s wealth in July this year.

Mukesh Ambani, Chairman of Reliance Group has a net worth of $44.3 billion. Isha Ambani has recently joined the Board of Directors at Jio and Reliance Retail, owned by Reliance.

Reliance Group is India’s largest private sector company with annual revenues of $66 billion.

Update: As per some reports, the entire wedding won’t cost more than $15 million.
