Oppo sub-brand Realme has launched its very first budget smartphone in the country called Realme 1. The company has been teasing its features recently on Amazon India and its social media handles. The smartphone will come in three variants starting at Rs 8,990.
Oppo has claimed that Realme 1 has been specifically made to deliver quality at a budget price. The smartphone’s motherboard is made to go through 18 special quality tests along with more than 100,000 drop tests. In short, the smartphone has been made keeping in mind the real-world usage scenarios.

Realme 1 will be powered by an octa-core MediaTek Helio P60 chipset coupled with 3GB, 4GB or 6GB of RAM. It has three storage options of 32GB, 64GB and 128GB. Redmi Note 5 comes with Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 chipset coupled with 3GB or 4GB of RAM with 32GB and 64GB storage options. Honor 9 Lite is powered by Huawei’s Kirin 659 with 3GB or 4GB RAM with 32GB and 64GB variants.
All smartphones have expandable storage. Honor 9 Lite and Redmi Note 5 feature a hybrid slot, but Realme 1 has a dedicated memory card slot, which is a better solution than a hybrid SIM slot.

Coming to software, Honor 9 Lite and Realme 1, both run the latest Android Oreo out of the box. But the Redmi Note 5 lags behind with Android Nougat. The Oreo update for Redmi Note 5 is expected to roll out soon.
