IRCTC App Now Gets A Wallet

In a major technological breakthrough, Indian Railways has decided to use Artificial Intelligence or AI to ensure that passengers get hygienic food, on a consistent basis. The intentions are good, no doubt, but there exist several loopholes as well.

On the other hand, IRCTC’s mobile app to book eTickets is now live, which includes Tatkal tickets. This will now save time for all passengers, as they can now simply load money into the app, and pay via a single click.

A great time saver, for sure!

IRCTC Looking At AI To Keep Away Cockroaches, Insects from Food!

In association with WOBOT, a Delhi-based company, IRCTC has employed Artificial Intelligence to make sure that passengers get healthy and hygienic food.

This is for the first time that AI has been used on such a large scale, especially for catering-related services.

WOBOT has installed high definition cameras across all 16 base kitchens of IRCTC, where food is being prepared. A live stream of this feed is being monitored at the central hub in Delhi.

A special AI program has been developed, which will scan the feed and report any inconsistency – such as cockroaches or insects in the food.

An official said,

“Everything from the complaint ticket generation to tracking the redressal is taken care of by the artificial intelligence-enabled software,”

In fact, even if a cook or helper is doing anything out of turn, this AI will track that, and immediately report to the officials.

However, cooking is just one part of the process. Rodents or insects can come into the food while packing into the wagons or while transporting as well.

We hope that AI can soon solve this problem as well, and passengers are spared from cockroaches, lizards and insects while savouring IRCTC’s food in trains.

IRCTC App To Get Powered With Wallet!

Meanwhile, in an excellent step, IRCTC has decided to empower their app with a wallet.

This will enable the passengers to quickly book all tickets, especially tatkal tickets with a single click.

Passengers can load their IRCTC wallet beforehand, and use it while booking tatkal tickets to save at least 10-12 seconds.

IRCTC announced this via Tweet:

In the last few days, IRCTC has made several updates:

  • If any train is cancelled, then the amount would be automatically refunded back, in case the ticket was booked via IRCTC app
  • Facility to book cabs has been launched via IRCTC app
  • A new Food On Track app has been launched to order food while on the go.

We will keep you updated, as we receive more information.

…kind of confused here, I’m all for technological advancement, but….why can’t the cooks just cook in a cleaner kitchen? You don’t need *artificial* intelligence to detect cockroaches and insects, just a normal human *eye* will do….? :)
