Has lady luck (read Anushka Sharma) smiled on Virat Kohli?
Brand Virat Kohli Beats Brand Shahrukh Khan!
As per latest brand valuation done by Duff & Phelps, it has been found that brand Virat Kohli is worth $144 million, which translates to Rs 936 crore. Compared to this, brand Shahrukh Khan is now worth $106 million.
While Virat Kohli’s brand value increased by 56% compared to last year, King Khan’s brand value decreased by 20% in the same period, thereby enabling this massive transformation in the brand ranking.
Last year, Shahrukh Khan’s brand value was worth $136 million, and Kohli’s was valued at $92.5 million.
Duff & Phelps managing director and region leader – India, Japan and Southeast Asia Varun Gupta said,
“For the first time since we began publishing our rankings, Shah Rukh Khan has slipped from the top ranking and been replaced by Virat Kohli. Kohli is now the first choice of brands to engage and attract consumers, fuelled by his extraordinary on-field performances and off-field charisma,”
At #3 is Deepika Padukone.
Akshay Kumar registered sharpest jump in the brand value by 97%, to reach $47 million, while Alia Bhatt debuted in the list.
Overall, top 15 celebrities’ brand value has been estimated at $712 million, and sports celebrities accounted for 25% of this list.
Who Is The #1 Celebrity?
While Virat Kohli is right now endorsing 20 brands as of October, 2017, Shahrukh is endorsing 21 brands and Deepika has 23 brands in her endorsement list.
However, if we observe the net worth of these celebrities, then we will find massive gap. In terms of net worth Shahrukh Khan is the clear winner here, as he is included among the richest Indians since 2014.
Shahrukh’s yearly income as per Forbes in 2017 was $38 million, or Rs 247 crore.
Besides, Shahrukh is the owner of KKR, whose brand value was $99 million, and was growing faster than Manchester United.
However, with his form, Virat has proved that he is a force to reckon with now.
