Oppo F5 Youth Launched

The trend of 18:9 displays is at its peak! After the launch of the new midrange, bezel-less smartphones, Honor 7X and Micromax Canvas Infinity Pro, one more bezel-less, 18:9 smartphone has made its way into the market, the Oppo F5 Youth.

It was first teased during the launch of Oppo F5 in India.  The Oppo F5 will sports a tall 18:9 display and a high resolution selfie camera coupled with Oppo’s AI based beautification technology.

Oppo F5 Youth – Specifications & Features

The smartphone will feature a 6 inch LTPS TFT full HD+ display with an 18:9 ratio. At its heart will be an octa-core MediaTek MT6763T (Helio P23) chipset paired with 3GB RAM.

It has 32GB of internal storage which can be further expanded up to 256GB. It comes with dual-SIM support with 4G VoLTE connectivity and a dedicated memory card slot.

The Oppo F5 Youth will sport a 13 megapixel rear camera with an f/2.2 aperture an LED flash. The front camera will be a 16 megapixel shooter with an f/2.0 aperture.

The F5 Youth will run ColorOS 3.2 based on Android 7.1 Nougat.

It will pack in a 3200mAh battery and will support face unlock like the OnePlus 5T.

The Other Budget Bezel-less Options

The Honor 7X is the next version of the Honor 6X, whereas Canvas Infinity Pro is the upgraded version of Canvas Infinity. Oppo F5 Youth is the watered-down version of the newly launched Oppo F5.

All these smartphones feature an 18:9 bezel-less display.

The Honor 7X will be powered by an octa-core Kirin 659 processor paired with 4GB of RAM. In comparison, Canvas Infinity Pro will get powered by an octa-core Snapdragon 430 chipset, clubbed with 4GB of RAM. The Oppo F5 Youth will get an an octa-core MediaTek MT6763T (Helio P23) chipset paired with 3GB of RAM. The F5 Youth lags behind with only 3GB of RAM.

Storage

Honor 7X has two storage options of 32GB and 64GB, which can be further expanded via a memory car. Canvas Infinity Pro has 64GB storage and Oppo F5 Youth has 32GB of onboard storage. Both of them have expandable storage as well.

Software

The Honor 7X will run EMUI 5.1 based on Android 7.0 Nougat. Canvas Infinity Pro will run Android 7.1.2 Nougat out of the box and Oppo F5 Youth will run ColorOS 3.2 based on Android 7.1 Nougat.

Camera

Honor 7X has a dual camera setup at the back, whereas the Canvas Infinity Pro has a dual camera setup at the front. The Honor 7X has combo of 16 megapixel and 2 megapixel sensors at the back and has a 8 megapixel selfie-shooter at front.

Canvas Infinity Pro has two cameras at the front, sporting a combo of 20MP primary sensor and a secondary 8MP sensor coupled with an LED flash. The main camera is a 16 megapixel shooter. It has the ‘Super Pixel’ imaging feature which combines multiple images into a single high-resolution image.

Oppo F5 Youth will have a 13 megapixel rear camera with an f/2.2 aperture an LED flash. At the front, there will be a 16 megapixel selfie-shooter with an f/2.0 aperture and AI based beautification.

The Honor 7X has an edge at the rear camera with a wide-angle lens. Both, Oppo F5 Youth and Canvas Infinity Pro can take better selfies.

The Honor 7X is available in two options, 32GB and 64GB with the same 4GB of RAM priced at Rs. 12,999 and Rs. 15,999 respectively (exclusive via Amazon). Canvas Infinity Pro is priced at Rs. 13,999, and and is available exclusively on Flipkart. Oppo F5 Youth is priced at Rs. 16,990 and will be available for purchase both via offline and online channels starting December 8.

So, unless you are specifically looking for a selfie-centric budget smartphone, the Honor 7X will offer you all-round refinement and a better deal.
