Creo Mark 1

CREO is a Bengaluru-based technology startup eyeing to disrupt the Android industry in the country. Not only does it want to change the way consumers use Android OS on their devices, but they also want to manufacture their own handsets.

The parent company, Mango Man Technologies, had launched its flagship product, Teewe which went head-on with the Google Chromecast. The only thing that set it apart was the fact that it was designed specifically for Indian consumers. It has plenty of other features to lure Indians buyers, at a time online television was not very famous.

CREO Mark 1 will be the next offering from the startup to have everything a high-end smartphone has, in similar form factor, focusing on software updates over yearly upgrades to hardware. Mark 1 claims to renew your phone with one new feature added to it every month.

Having received $3 Million in funding last year, the company hopes to manufacture its own devices as well, which would employ its software uniquely integrated with the hardware.

The company’s blog states, “At CREO, we’re committed to #MakeBetter Android. And because we want to leave no stone unturned, we’re building both, the Operating System and the smartphone. With our OS we’ll send you relevant updates that shall keep your phone running just as new as the first time you held it. And not just that, we’ll also ship a big new feature with every update.”

Will the smartphone deliver?

This is probably the only question in your mind right now, whether the phone will actually deliver what the company claims? From the teaser video shared on their website, it looks like a lot of thought has been put into understanding a customer’s point of view.

The phone’s regular software updates will not only ensure that the phone runs smoothly, but will also feel like the phone is as good as new with a bonus new feature in every 30 days. After all, how many companies even care about the user experience?

“Regular and relevant software updates ensure that the customer experience is always smooth. At CREO, we promise to release these updates every month, along with powerful and functional features, that give you an experience of A New Phone Every Month!”, said Sai Srinivas, Co-Founder and CEO – CREO.

Take a look at the leaked(expected) specifications below –

  • 4.6-inch QHD(1440x2560p) display
  • 1.9Ghz Quad-core Helio X10 processor coupled with 3GB of RAM
  • 32GB internal storage with microSD slot
  • 21MP rear camera along with 8MP front-facing cameras

With specs like these, there is no question about the product’s performance. What CREO claims is that the experience is going to be near stock Android, however with software features never seen in other smartphones before.

It is high time companies like Samsung, Micromax, Sony, LG and Xiaomi take cognizance of the fact that consumers are not fixated on just hardware, but also software. With Mark 1, CREO intends to attract consumers annoyed with the existing OS skins and bloatware on popular smartphones these days.

The smartphone is not available yet, and there is no concrete launch date yet, but you can sign up here to get the first glance of it at launch. Stay tuned for more updates!
