Android Beats iOS in Porn Consumption; Windows Is Still #1 Desktop OS For Porn Lovers – Pornhub Survey

Your smartphone and the OS can be a major indicator of your sexual preferences, as per a latest Pornhub study conducted to understand behavior of porn users. As per the findings of the study, Android has beaten iOS when it comes to porn consumption.

However, when it comes to the longevity of a session, then Blackberry beats them all.

As per Pornhub, this survey was inspired after Gizmodo wondered how much effect the OS has on the overall porn consumption habit of a user. Earlier, Pornhub had determined the role of browsers in finding co-relation of porn habits.

Here are some major highlights from the survey:

1) Traffic

a) Desktop: 85% of all desktop traffic on Pornhub arrive from a Windows OS. And going deeper, we will find that 62.43% of all Windows users have Windows 7 as their desktop’s OS. With 16.24%, Windows XP is at #2 and with 14.36%, its Windows 8 at #3.

b) Smartphone: With 48.34% share, Android users are the numero uno fans of porn, comfortably beating iOS, which is at 40.6% share. Windows based smartphones bring only 2.3% of users to Pornhub; and Blackberry has a share of 1.81%.

c) Tablet: 77.38% of all tablet traffic belongs to iPad, which is the reigning champion here. However, Android based tablets have managed a respectable 21.50%. Windows and Blackberry based tablets are at meager 0.40% and 0.60% respectively.

d) Game Console: This is a new one for Pornhub, as they discovered that the modern, Internet connected gaming consoles bring in a lot of traffic to their servers. Playstation is at #1 in this niche, as it accounts for 45.8% traffic, followed by Xbox, which brings in 41.4% traffic.

2) Duration of the session

a) Desktop: With 9.31 minutes, users of MAC OSX defeat every other desktop user, when it comes to the length of an average session on Pornhub. During this time, an average Mac user will surf 8.85 pages, which is again a new record. Windows OS user fare worst, with only 8.39 minutes long session, with average surfing of 7.41 pages. Linux users are in the middle, with 9.05 minutes of an average session, and 7.64 average number of pages.

b) Smartphones: Surprise surprise! Blackberry users defeat all other OS when it comes to stamina of watching porn. With 11.53 minutes, Blackberry is #1 here. However, when it comes to surfing the number of pages, when Windows phone user is the #1 rank holder, with 10.27 pages in a session. With 8.57 and 8.53 minutes for an average session, Android and iOS users are almost equal here.

c) Tablets: Here, Windows users are at #1 with 10.23 minutes for an average session, and 9.47 pages opened during that time. iOS users are slightly behind at 10.12 minutes and 9.25 pages in a single session. Android and Blackberry users of tablets fare badly here.

d) Game Consoles: Interestingly, Xbox users spend the maximum time for a single session (11.34 minutes), meanwhile at 9.92 pages per visit, it’s the Playstation Vita users which are at #1 position for surfing.

The report further delves into the top searched terms, for every category of OS and device. For instance, ex-porn star Lisa Ann is the top searched term for Windows and MAC OSX desktop users, but when it comes to Linux desktop users, then Sunny Leone is the #1 term. Lisa Ann dominates Android and iOS searches (on mobiles) too, but when it comes to Windows based mobile and tablets, then its ‘cartoon’ which dominates the searches!

Pornhub also released an updated ranking of countries, based on their demographic data. India has been ranked #7 for Windows desktop users, and #2 for Linux OS based desktops. For iOS category, India is not in the top 10 rank, however, for Android, we are placed at #3 behind US and UK with 3.76% share. For Windows based smartphones as well, we are placed at #5 with 4.8% share.
