Sony has launched their first Android TV in India, under the brand Bravia. Packed with several unique features, and exclusive apps, Sony Bravia Android TV has left no stone unturned to distinguish themselves from the already available plethora of Smart TVs.

To begin with, their line-up of new Android TVs start with a competitive price of Rs 69,990, which is indeed a smart decision as it effectively competes with Panasonic and LG for their smart TV offerings.

To start with, Sony has launched 4 models:

  • 43 inch: Rs 69,990
  • 43 inch with TRILUMINOSâ„¢ Display: Rs 82,900
  • 50 inch with TRILUMINOSâ„¢ Display: Rs 1,32,900
  • 55 inch: Rs 1,54,900

During the Electronic mega show CES – 2015, it was reported that MediaTek, manufacturers of TV processors & experts in creating SoC technology, have tied up with Google and Sony to launch cross-platform enabled home entertainment system. It was speculated that as a result of this partnership, Sony will come out with their first line-up of Android TVs soon.

Their flagship model of Android TV: X9000C series with 4.9mm thin LCD, which was launched during CES, would be available in India next month onwards. Total of 13 models have been lined up under Bravia Android series.

This is for the first time that a TV would be natively powered by Google’s Android TV concept.

Running Android v5.0.2, Bravia Android TVs will have Google Cast bundled in, Opera browser, an advanced optical touchpad remote with voice controls and facility to connect Playstation 3 and 4 controllers.

Exclusive Apps from Sony

Sony has launched several exclusive apps, meant for their Android TVs.

Serial Abtak is an app developed by Sony which will allow users to create playlist to watch their favorite TV programs, and sort the data as per shows, timing and language.

Notify Bravia is another exclusive app developed by Sony, which empowers the user to implement some strict privacy options. For example, in case a new WhatsApp message has arrived on the user’s smartphone, then this app will make sure that the message is not displayed on the TV, but rather, the user is notified of the app which has received the message.

Voice Search on the Internet, One-Flick Entertainment, seamless connectivity via different apps into the TV are some of the other value add-ons with Sony’s new Android TV.
