Quikr Adds Another Vertical: A Dedicated Portal For Job Seekers
Leading online and mobile classifieds company Quikr has now launched a dedicated vertical for job seekers in India.
The company had previously added Real Estate vertical back in April 2015, but now with the launch of its own job portal it will list full-time and part-time jobs along with work for freelancers, and listings for summer internship.
It has also introduced a separate section for ‘Work from home’ and NGO jobs.
The jobs seeker section is further divided into jobs sorted according to the functional area and industry.
This was a widely anticipated move as the company recently raised another round of funding ($150M) from its existing investors (Tiger Global, Investment AB Kinnevik, and Steadview Capital).
After making a name for itself in the online and mobile classifieds business, the company intends to expand into various popular verticals like jobs, cars, real estate, education, matrimonial, services, etc.
Pranay Chulet, Quikr Founder & CEO, had also said that big things for them are to continue to innovate for India, mobile and go deeper into the key categories.
“In case of cars we have launched special reports for used cars, in case of houses we are beginning to post more and more listings with images and so on. So essentially we are handholding our consumers or our users more as they transact with us in these categories,” he added.
In April of this year, Quikr has also introduced a ‘Buy Through Quikr’ option which will help . Basically, when bought using this option, Quikr will take care of payments, delivery, and will also offer assurances on the things bought through its platform.
Quikr has also hired Manish Kumar Sinha, co-founder of Favista, a Gurgaon-based real estate portal, for leading its foray into the real estate business.
As far as the revenue model for the newer portals are concerned, it will be similar to what is currently there for its online and mobile classifieds portal. The platform can be used to list ads for free but the premium listings will be highlighted and shown above the free listings in the search results. It will also offer prospective leads to clients for a fee.
Quikr claims to receive 1 lakh paying users and 3 crore new visitors every month on its platform. This kind of monetization strategy has been working very well for its mobile and online classifieds section.
It remains to be seen how well can Quikr compete with dedicated job and real estate web portals, but its expansion plans definitely seem to be a step in the right direction.
