Dubai Beats Bangkok To Become Most Favoured Overseas Destination For Indian Tourists

Hotels.com, which is world’s leading portal for hotel bookings all over the world, has recently concluded their survey for the most preferred overseas destinations for Indian tourists, and there are some major surprises in the results.

For the first time in 2 years, Bangkok, capital of Thailand has been displaced from #1 position, as Dubai climbs up the chart and becomes the most preferred overseas destination for Indian travelers.

Most favoured travel destinations

In the last year’s survey, Dubai was at #3.

Political instability in Thailand since last 6 months has been cited as the main reason for the downfall in it’s ranking as Indian tourists are preferring a destination which is politically safe, and stable.

Singapore has retained it’s position as second most favorite destination for Indian tourists. Bangkok is now placed at #3.

4th most preferred overseas destination this year is London, whereas New York has climbed to #5.

Hong Kong, which has recently unleashed several new campaigns to promote tourism in India is ranked at #6 meanwhile Pattaya, the ‘entertainment capital’ of Thailand is placed at #7. Paris is 8th most preferred destination for Indians, as it has climbed 2 positions since last year’s ranking.

Las Vegas in US is ranked #9 and Kuala Lumpur is positioned 10th.

Most Preferred Indian Destinations for Foreign Tourists

The survey also analyzed the most preferred Indian destinations for foreign tourists, and one of the major changes which has been witnessed is ranking of Agra: It has slipped out of top 10 this time. Last year, it was ranked at 9th position. And the surprise entry into 8th position is Kolkata, which was out of top 10 since last 2 years.

Delhi is still the most preferred tourist destination for foreign travelers, meanwhile Mumbai is at #2 position and Goa is at #3. Bangalore has improved it’s position to be ranked at #4 meanwhile Chennai, Hyderabad and Jaipur are ranked at #5, #6 and #7 respectively.

    Interesting info.
    Normally Upper Middle class people travel to Dubai “with family”. Kids love the fantasy land that is Dubai.
    Almost same with profile of travelers to Singapore.
    Majority of people who travel to Bangkok are single, male, any class who can spend a 50K for a week (including 25K for the tour agent who arrange hotel, food, transport and the 25K for own pleasures)
    As the article says, its only a temporary change in #1 position as there is trouble in Bangkok. Soon it will reclaim its #1 position.
