Are you aware of #AmazonCart ? It’s fine if your did not know as it was not available for Indian Amazon site till now. But now looks like the #AmazonCart feature has been enabled for Amazon.in as well.

#AmazonCart is is targeted for exclusively Twitter users, where Twitter users can directly add items into their Amazon shopping cart without leaving Twitter. Here is how it works.

Say you are browsing through your Twitter timeline and suddenly a Tweet mentioning an excellent Amazon product (with connected Amazon product link) appears before you. How can you shop it? The usual method is clicking that Amazon link, and proceed with the shopping.

But with this new feature, all you need to do is reply to that Tweet with hashtag#AmazonCart and you are done. That product will be automatically added to your Amazon shopping cart which you can purchase later as per your convenience. You will then get an email notification regarding this addition of the product to your shopping cart!

However, to make use of this feature, you will first need to go to Amazon India site and connect your Amazon site with your twitter account.

The feature was launched in May by Amazon on their US site, and seems that it has been extended to India now.

Check out this introductory video that gives you an idea of how it works:

[Out view on the Introductory Ad: I am surprised that this introductory video was done taking foreign actors. For Indian launch they could have easily made an Indianized version. Come on Amazon, I am sure you have money to do that!]

Will #AmazonCart be popular in India?

This will surely take time to catch on in India. However, if you look at the number of times #AmazonCart hashtag is used on twitter, one can say it definitely say that it is being used by Twitter users on regular basis. Infact, many publishing houses and authors of books keep tweeting about their books with #AmazonCart hashtag so when someone replies the hashtag gets automatically added and thereby their product as well.

While for other products, it may not work all that very well, we think this is a great feature, especially for books.

Give it a try and let us know how do you like this new feature!
