PM Modi Is 9th Most Powerful Person

PM Modi, Prime Minister of India, has been declared as World’s 9th most powerful person. He is the only Indian to be featured in the top 10 ranking.

Besides him, Mukesh Ambani is the only other Indian to get featured in the overall ranking, which has a total of 75 most powerful people in the World.

Reliance Industries Chairman Mukesh Ambani has been ranked #32 in the coveted list.

While announcing this ranking, which will appear in Forbes’ May 31st issue, they said,

“There are nearly 7.5 billion humans on planet Earth, but these 75 men and women make the world turn. Forbes’ annual ranking of The World’s Most Powerful People identifies one person out of every 100 million whose actions mean the most,”

PM Modi: Torchbearer of Change

Forbes acknowledged the positive change which PM Modi is attempting to induce in this world, by means of climate change treaties or inclusive economic growth for billions of Indians.

Forbes also acknowledged PM Modi’s stellar foreign policies and strategies, as they said,

“Modi has raised his profile as a global leader in recent years during official visits with US President Donald Trump and Xi Jinping. He has also emerged as a key figure in the international effort to tackle climate change, as warming affects millions of his country’s rural citizens,”

Since then, he has maintained his position for 2016 and 2017 at #9 most powerful person in the world.

Chinese President Xi Jinping Beats Putin To Reach #1

In an interesting development, Chinese President Xi Jinping has beaten Russian President Vladimir Putin to become world’s most powerful person.

Forbes said,

“Xi Jinping seizes the top spot for the first time ever after China’s congress amended its constitution in March, broadening his influence and eliminating term limits. He enjoys a cult of personality not seen since chairman Mao,”

Putin has been placed at #1 position since last 4 years, and this year too, it was expected that he will hold #1 position. He has recently won the Presidential election for record 4th term, by a margin of 77% vote, highest for any post-Soviet era President.

US President Trump has been slammed for his policies and criminal investigations against him. He has been ranked #3 after Xi and Putin.

Amazon founder Jeff Bezos is ranked #5 to become the most powerful businessman in the list, while Bill Gates is at #7 position.
