Samsung Galaxy S9 Ready To Launch

Samsung has officially confirmed the much-awaited launch of Galaxy S9 and S9 + on 25th February, at a special event at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) in Barcelona.

The media invites are already out. The “Camera. Reimagined” on the invite hints at specific camera enhancements for the pair of Samsung’s flagships for 2018.

Samsung Galaxy S9 & S9+: Features & Specifications

The Galaxy S9 will take a few cues from its predecessor, starting from its bezel-less design to the oddly-placed fingerprint sensor at the back, which now placed below the camera lens on S9.

The new flagship lineup will include the S9 and its bigger version, the S9 Plus, with a dual-lens primary camera at the back. Both the S9 flagships will be powered the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 chipset in the US and Samsung’s own Exynos 9810 processor for rest of the world.

The Galaxy S9 will feature a 5.8 inch Quad HD+ Super AMOLED display, while the Galaxy S9 Plus will come with a larger 6.2 inch Quad HD+ Super AMOLED display. Both these flagships are expected to have 4GB and 6GB Ram versions with two storage capacities of 64GB and 128GB.

Both the smartphones will include dual stereo speakers, IP68 water and dust resistance, earphones tuned by AKG and an iris scanner.

Major Camera Improvements

Samsung will use the new ISOCELL sensors for their upcoming Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9+. These sensors are capable of recording 480fps slow-motion videos in Full HD 1080p resolution! They will use Tetra Cell Technology which will enhance low light performance and will offer an upgrade to the existing Dual Pixel tech.

Additionally, the S9 duo will come with Smart WDR feature which enables the sensor to capture multiple exposures in a single shot. They will also improve with low-light performance with dual sensors and extremely thin modules.

The Isocell image sensor chip comes with better low-light photography, faster focus, a thinner design and an integrated depth sensor for face recognition.

Apart from the sensors, recent rumours have hinted at a f/1.5 aperture lens at the back. The cameras on both the smartphones are expected to come with a variable aperture of f/1.5 to f/2.4 which will give the sensor DSLR-like capabilities. The Galaxy S9 Plus will sport a dual lens setup while the smaller Galaxy S9 is expected to make do with a single lens. Both of them are expected to sport similar 8-megapixel selfie cameras.

All these features should make the Galaxy S9 & S9+ cameras among the best ones for this year.

Expected India Launch

The Samsung Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9+ will be unveiled at MWC on 25th February. The pre-orders should begin by the first week of March, as the phones will officially go on sale by March end itself.

If Samsung will follow their usual launch pattern in India, it will take a month or so after the official unveiling, so an India launch event should take place in March and sales should start by early to mid-April.
