Apple Campus Placement

We have always wondered why Apple didn’t have any Indian campus placement for recruiting our engineers and management graduates. Even Google, Facebook, Microsoft and other giants carried campus placements, but Apple never did.

This is now changing.

Apple has decided to carry on their famed campus recruitment from India this year, and this is indeed a big news for entire educational sector India.

In a related news, it has been found that 47% of MBASs in India are not hired.

Apple’s Debut In Campus Placement in India

Apple, world’s largest and most valuable tech company will hold their first ever campus recruitment in India, and Indian techies are excited, no doubt.

Apple has chosen International Institute of Information Technology, IIIT-Hyderabad for their debut campus hiring.

IIIT-H, which is an autonomous university founded in 1998, and was the first IIT to be established under not-for-profit public private partnership (N-PPP).

Around 350 techies who are going to pass-out this year, which includes BTech, BE, MTech and MSc research students, have already registered for the campus recruitment drive, and entire campus is pretty excited.

TV Devi Prasad, head of placements at IIIT-H said,

“We are elated that Apple has decided to come for our campus placements this year. We are not sure of the kind of profiles that the company will be offering. However, it will provide an opportunity to the graduating students to showcase their skills before representatives of the firm,”

As per reports coming in, demand for students expert in Artificial Intelligence, and hardware platforms, besides machine learning are in high demand this year.

Prasad said,

“The companies will be holding technical interviews in which students who are well acquainted with Python (a computing language) will be preferred. Majority of them are offering jobs for product development and research and development profiles,”

Besides Apple, companies like Google, Philips and Microsoft would be also conducting campus hiring from IIIT-H.

Only 47% Of MBAs Are Getting Jobs In India!

As per latest numbers coming in, there is a depressing news for management graduates.

In 2016-17, only 47% of MBAs in India were able to secure a job, and the trend is worsening, as compared to last year, the percentage has dipped by 4%.

A senior official from All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) said,

“It is a market-driven process and hence placements are dependent on that. We have taken cognisance of that (and) are updating and reviewing the curriculum so that it meets the requirement of the industry,”

Note here, that this statistics doesn’t include numbers from premier Indian Institutes of Management (IIMs), as they are not affiliated with AICTE.

In 2016-17, estimated 5,000 management institutions churned out 2,00,000 graduates, which includes both Bachelor’s and Master’s degree holders.

While overall dip in jobs and placements this year was 4%, the worst was for the postgraduates, as the dip in jobs was 12%.

As per reports, AICTE is right now upgrading their course content, for improving the overall job score.
