Delhi Declared As The Most Unsafe City For Women; Crimes Increase By 40%
Delhi is the capital of our country, but it has a rather notorious name when it comes to the women safety.
As per the latest report of NCRB, the national capital is the most unsafe metropolitan city for women across the country as everyday last year two minor were raped.

The data showed that as compared to the 9,782 cases of crimes against women in 2020, the number increased to 13,892 in 2021, this is a 40% surge and very alarming.
According to the National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB) data, the cases of crimes against women in Delhi accounted for 32.20 per cent of total crimes in the category among all 19 metropolitan cities.
Next in the list, with 5,543 cases of crimes against women is Mumbai, followed by Bengaluru with 3,127 cases.
Out of the total crimes across 19 cities, Mumbai and Bengaluru accounted for 12.76 per cent and 7.2 per cent respectively.
The highest number of cases against women in the categories related to kidnapping (3948), cruelty by husbands (4674) and girl child rapes (833) are reported in Delhi, amongst all other metropolitan cities with over two million population in 2021.
13,892 Out of Total 43,414 Reported in Delhi
In 2021, on an average over two girls were raped every day in Delhi. The total crime cases against women in 2021 stood at 43,414 and out of this 13,982 cases alone were in Delhi.
Out of all the cases in the 19 metropolitan cities, capital has registered 136 cases of dowry death in 2021, which is 36.26 per cent of total deaths due to the menace.
Out of total 8664 cases in all metropolitan cities, Delhi alone reported 3,948 cases of abduction and kidnapping of women.
Last year, the national capital reported 2,022 cases of assault on women with intent to outrage their modesty. The NCRB said that there were 1,357 reported cases under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act (girl child victims only) in 2021. As per the data, as many as 833 cases of girl child rape, the highest among the metropolitan cities in 2021.
