Maruti Suzuki is developing an all-new coupe SUV, codenamed YTB for the Indian market.

It is also referred to as the Baleno Cross.

It will reportedly be unveiled at the 2023 Delhi Auto Expo in January, with launch taking place before March 2023.

Exterior

The front fascia has headlamps and daytime running lamps similar to the recently unveiled Grand Vitara.

Being a SUV-coupe YTB gets a sloping roofline and raked windscreen.

The grille design appears to have been borrowed from the Grand Vitara albeit with chrome studded elements and thinner chrome surround.

There’s a split headlamp set-up with sharp LED DRLs on top and main LED headlamp on the lower bumper.

Squarish wheel arches and diamond-cut alloys along with ORVMs with integrated LED indicators make up the rest of the exterior.

Platform, powertrain

YTB is reportedly to be based on Maruti Suzuki’s HEARTECT platform that underpins the new Baleno.

It will be powered by Suzuki’s Boosterjet turbo-petrol engine which will come with a higher degree of electrification.

Launch, price, competition

Launch is expected to happen in February 2023, while its global debut will take place at the 2023 Delhi Auto Expo in January.

It will be positioned above the Baleno hatchback and will be sold through Maruti’s NEXA premium dealership network.

Toyota is also likely to introduce its own version of the YTB SUV Coupe in the country.

YTB is expected to be offered in the Rs 6-10 lakh price bracket.

Once launched it will take on the Nissan Magnite, Tata Punch, Renault Kiger, and the Citroen C3.
