As we all know, July 31, 2022, is the last date to file an income tax return for the financial year 2021-22. 

However, there are a few different ITR due dates or deadlines for different types of taxpayers.

ITR filing deadlines for individuals and salaried employees

If you are a salaried employee or an individual, and if your account is not required to be audited, the income tax return filing deadline for you is July 31, 2022. 

ITR filing deadlines for HUF

The Income Tax Rules state that July 31, 2022, is also the deadline for filing ITRs for Hindu Undivided Families (HUF), whose accounts do not require an audit.

ITR filing taxpayers whose accounts need to be audited

If you are a taxpayer who requires an audit of your financial records, you are required to submit yours by October 31, 2022.

These taxpayers can be a corporation, an individual, a working partner of a corporation, or other businesses whose accounts are required to be audited.

Penalty For Passing Due Dates

A late fee of Rs. 5000 will be charged to an individual taxpayer if they file an ITR after the due date, which is July 31, 2022. Additionally, if the total income of the person if less than 5 lakh in a financial year, they will be required to pay a late fee of Rs 1,000.

Section 92E

If you are a taxpayer and have conducted an international transaction, you will have to submit a report under Section 92E.

The ITR filing deadline for such taxpayers is 30 November, 2022.

Infosys Observes ‘Irregular Traffic’ On Income Tax Portal

The Income Tax Department issued an alert on Saturday that taxpayers were having trouble using the ITD e-filing platform.

The portal’s maker Infosys informed that they have seen some unusual traffic on the platform, for which preventative steps are being implemented.

The portal went live last June.

Since then, there have been multiple complaints from taxpayers and officials about bugs and flaws with the functionality of the portal.
