Bengaluru’s Centre Becomes India’s 4th IKEA Store

On June 22, 2022, the Swedish company IKEA launched its 4th store in India, its largest in the country till date. The state Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai inaugurated the store’s opening and announced an investment of Rs 3,000 crore in Karnataka.

Apart from the state capital, IKEA has three other outlets, its first one launched in Hyderabad in 2018, followed by the ones at Navi Mumbai and Mumbai, launched in 2020 and 2021, respectively.

Over this weekend, the new store in Bengaluru saw crowds waiting in line for roughly about 3 hours, to which IKEA expressed its gratitude on Twitter.

“It’s not MLAs queuing in Maharashtra to form government, it’s not an immigration queue to enter our country, it’s not a vaccination queue to avoid the Covid wave, it’s not pilgrims queuing in Tirupati for darshan, it’s the opening of an IKEA store in Bangalore,” said the  chairman of RPG Enterprises, Harsh Goenka.
