Soon the residents of Mumbai get CNG delivered to their doorsteps, as the IoT-based startup The Fuel Delivery has entered into a partnership with the Indian natural gas distribution company Mahanagar Gas Limited, an enterprise of GAIL and the Maharashtra Government.
This is the first time in India that a startup company will launch or set up a mobile CNG station. The programme will start soon, by the next three months, and the pilot areas in Mumbai will begin from Sion and Mahape, and will gradually be extended across the city.

CNG Will be Delivered at Doorstep
The Indian startup The Fuel Delivery has signed a ‘letter of intent’ with Mahanagar Gas to deliver CNG at the residents’ doorstep in Mumbai, for which it would be setting up proper mobile CNG stations in the city.
With the help of this doorstep service launched, refuelling CNG vehicles will get easier for customers in Mumbai, as currently they have to spend hours waiting in queues for the same.
The Fuel Delivery’s service, as stated by the company, will be 24×7 and shall cater to all CNG-run vehicles including auto rickshaws, cabs, private and commercial vehicles, school buses, and the others.
It will start by operating two composite CNG Dispensing Units or CDUs, also known as mobile CNG stations in the city, and has received necessary approvals from MGL.
“After successfully carrying out the doorstep delivery of diesel across the country, we are taking a step forward by announcing the CNG doorstep delivery,” The Fuel Delivery’s founder & CEO Rakshit Mathur said.
The service of providing CNG at the doorstep will significantly push vehicle owners to shift to CNG, while being able to refuel their vehicles at their own ease, besides the fact that the fuel is considerably cheaper than petrol and/or diesel.
There are only 223 CNG stations across Mumbai, with more than 5 lakh CNG-run vehicles consuming about 43 kg of CNG every year in the city.
