Along with Xiaomi 12’s launch in China, the company also revealed the launch of the latest update in the MIUI software. The MIUI 13 is going to focus on speed and stability. The MIUI will also come with a collection of fresh, new wallpapers which are a collaboration between the Beauty of Science (BOS) brand.
Here are some of the features of the MIUI that you should know about:
1. Optimised File Storage system
This feature minimizes the fragmentation of the device’s read and write storage speed, which is prone to slowing down over time. The Optimised File Storage system (globally called as the Liquid Storage) on MIUI 13 provides a great new system-level method for managing the ways in which files are stored on devices. It manages the stored data actively and thus, improves defragmentation efficiency by up to 60 percent. The Liquid Storage also MIUI 13 helps devices keep up to 95 percent of the read and write speeds even after 36 months.
2. RAM Optimisation
RAM Optimisation or Atomized Memory is a memory management method which takes RAM efficiency to the next level. This feature analyses how much memory each app is using and divides every single app’s RAM usage into important and unimportant tasks. The unimportant tasks are closed, which improves the overall device’s performance.
3. Focused Algorithms
Focused Algorithms steer the CPU performance to important tasks for a faster speed and better performance. In the company’s own words, this feature “dynamically allocates system resources based on usage scenarios, making the system more fluid and responsive. Without Focused Algorithms, smartphone processors distribute resources across all of your apps relatively equally.”
4. Smart Balance
Smart Balance is an amazing little feature on MIUI 13 that claims to improve the device’s overall battery life by up to 10 percent. Smart balance accomplishes this goal by finding a balance between performance and power consumption.
5. Sidebar and Widgets
Just like on Samsung devices, users can now open apps in floating windows on Xiaomi devices which have the MIUI 13 operating system and that too with a simple swipe. The Sidebar feature is completely customizable and it supports up to 10 apps.
Widgets have been around for a very long time on Android devices. But the MIUI 13 lets users adjust the size of widgets. Users can choose from various widget sizes like 2×1, 2×2, 2×3, 4×2, and 4×4. Now, users can fit more information on a single widget than ever before.
