Traveling By Metro Made Easy

As part of this development, you will not need to take a token or recharge smartcard for traveling by metro.

You can simply pay the fare for traveling in the metro with your bank’s debit or credit card.

For this, the latest automatic fare machines are being installed by Delhi Metro Rail Corporation

Paying Made Easy

As part of this new rule, besides smart cards, you will be able to pay metro fares by using debit and credit cards, Near Field Communication (NFC), QR code-based ticketing mobile phones and paper QR tickets.

During its fourth phase, the DMRC has started installing Automatic Fare Collection i.e. AFC system at 44 stations.

So soon, you will get this facility. Besides this, the AFC gates installed at the existing station will also be updated.

Encourage More Digitization

According to a DMRC official, the new system will encourage more digitization of services apart from cashless and human error-free transactions.

Apart from this, Metro Corporation is upgrading the AFC firmware so that passengers will be able to use their credit or debit card as a smart card

So far, this facility is available only on the Airport Express Line in the capital.

Accepting Trasactons From All Banks

Currently, this facility is available in some metropolitan cities like Kochi and Nagpur.

Although, they only accept debit/credit cards of particular banks.

The new DMRC’s system will accept transactions from all banks through RuPay portal.

In addition to that, it will also help in creating more ‘fare zones’ in the metro network.

Mode Of Payment For Paying Rent

1. National Common Mobility Card

2. Smart Card

3. Mobile QR Code Based Ticketing

4. Mobile Based NFC (Near Field Communication Ticketing)

5. Paper QR Ticketing

Penalty Deduction

In this new system, penalty deduction will also be possible through smart card, according to DMRC spokesperson.

Currently, a passenger needs to pay the inflated price at the time of exit.

For doing so, they have to go to the customer service window.

While in the new system, penalties can be paid only through smart cards.

Further, DMRC also plans to integrate the Point of Sale (POS) terminal with ticketing machines in the customer service at Phase-I and II stations.

That time, the smart card can also be recharged from POS.
