Toll Waiver for Private Vehicles traveling towards Konkan for Ganesh Festival
On Monday the Government of Maharashtra announced a toll waiver for all private vehicles plying towards Konkan Ganesh Chaturthi.
The waiver in toll will be implemented two days before the Ganesh Chaturthi. The vehicles will get free passes on two days after the festival ends as well. So, as the toll would be charging on both journies, this seems like a real festival gift.
As the festival is soon approaching, a meeting was held between the Public Works Department, Home Department, and District Administration, for ensuring a hassle-free journey of devotees.
For availing of the benefit of this, private vehicle owners will have to register the vehicle at a toll plaza. The vehicle will be allotted a sticker. The sticker will be a free pass to travel through all further toll booths on the way.
Passenger Delight is being prioritized
Minister Eknath Shinde assured that more manpower will be allocated at toll booths along different highways such as Mumbai-Pune, Mumbai-Goa, Pune- Satara, etc for the assistance of commuters.
The minister has also ordered the agencies to ensure that the highways are well maintained and has been asked to complete the repair works in the next two days. He has also given attention to the availability of ambulance and quick response vehicles, in the case of exigency.
