After a four-month hiatus, fully vaccinated people were finally permitted to board Mumbai local trains and almost more than 40,000 passengers have been fined worth Rs 1 crore for ticketless travelling.

Several passengers were fine on the 15th of August as they didn’t take any vaccine or they took a single dose which was against the guidelines of the state government.

Conditions For Traveling In Mumbai Local Trains

For travelling in Mumbai local trains, one must complete their vaccine doses. It is mandatory to take a double dose of the Covid-19 vaccine. Only individuals with a monthly season pass are permitted to ride the trains.

Passengers With No Pass 

Mainly passengers who were caught without a ticket were largely residents who were frantic to get to work. Commuters who earn a daily income and refuse to acquire monthly passes are among those who have been punished.

On Friday, almost 2692 individuals were caught travelling without tickets on suburban railway stations and thus was fined, the total amount recovered from the fin was Rs 8.5 lakh.

Inspection Of Vaccination Certificates And Passes By Railway

The Central and Western Railways have both dispatched special squad teams consisting of ticket checking employees and the Railway Protection Force (RPF) to inspect vaccination certificates and railway passes, according to railway authorities.

Inspectors who check tickets have also been stationed inside local train compartments.
