Mahindra XUV 700 Launching On August 15th? Will XUV 700 Disrupt SUV Market In India? (Specs, Price)

The interior of this car sets it apart from any other Mahindra offering thus far.

Mahindra will launch the XUV700 on August 15 according to a countdown on its official website.

Interestingly, the carmaker has a history of launching its signature products on days of national significance.

In line with India’s independence day, Mahindra will also debut a brand new logo which marks a new visual identity “designed to evoke the powerful emotion of freedom.”

The 3-row SUV will be sold in 6 and 7-seater configurations.

New Logo Debut

With the XUV700, Mahindra will be introducing its new logo, dubbed the “Twin Peaks”, which according to the automaker “embodies the willingness to change to suit a new world order.”

The logo is a modern, sleek and sharply designed uppercase ‘M’ rendered in 3D and will also be used to redesign dealerships and service centres nationwide.

This new butterfly-shaped (or bowtie-shaped, as one chooses to look at it) logo will feature on every SUV in its portfolio.

Exterior

The SUV gets a prominent front fascia dominated by vertical slats and a busy bumper section.

The LED headlamp cluster is sharp enough and integrated with C-shaped LED Daytime Running Lights.

Other features include a raked front windshield, smart pop-out door handles, pronounced wheel arches, and a notable kink along the sides.

Rear

At the back of the vehicle, one can spot horizontal wraparound LED tail lamps.

The skid plate is also visible with shark fin antenna, high-mounted stop lamp and an integrated spoiler.

Interior

The interior of this car sets it apart from any other Mahindra offering thus far.

There is a new dashboard and centre console layout with two large landscape-oriented screens- one for the touchscreen infotainment system, and the other for instrumentation.

One Of Its Kind And Unique Features

The 10.25 inch dual screens will be integrated with Amazon Alexa voice assistant, the first of its kind in India.

The XUV700 will come with a large panoramic sunroof called the “Skyroof.”

Its dimensions are 1,360mm in length and 870mm in breadth, much higher than the ones seen on its rivals- the Tata Safari, MG Hector and new Hyundai Alcazar.

Other cool features include a Sony 3D sound system, an audio feature which is the best in segment along with roof mounted speakers.

Diesel variants will get options of 4 drive modes named Zip, Zap, Zoom, and Custom (Individual).

Safety

Those inside the vehicle will be safe in all conditions given the thorough safety-focused and smart design and features Mahindra has incorporated.

These include:

  • Personalised safety alerts
  • Drowsiness detection feature
  • Blind-spot detection
  • Lane-keeping assist
  • Automatic emergency braking
  • Auto booster headlamps

A segment-first safety feature is the auto booster headlamps which automatically increases both throw and intensity of LED headlamps in low visibility conditions at speeds over 80 km/h.

This should come into use while driving fast under low light conditions such as during night time.

Powertrain

It runs on either a 185 hp 2.2-litre diesel or a 200 hp 2.0-litre petrol engine.

These figures are the best in class in terms of performance.

Both engines will be mated to a six-speed manual transmission as standard while a six-speed torque converter automatic unit will be optional.

Launch, Competition, Pricing

Even though the debut will take place on August 15 this month, the actual launch and availability for sale will be only around October 2, 2021, ahead of the festive season.

Upon launch, it will compete against the likes of the Tata Safari, Hyundai Alcazar and MG Hector Plus.

It is expected to be priced between Rs 13-20 lakh.
