OYO has been the heartthrob of all startup enthusiasts for the last decade. And why wouldn’t it be, the solutions it offered in hoteling/lodging space were intrinsically intuitive. The way they found a gap in the present system and filled it is an epic story in itself. The global platform has empowered entrepreneurs and small businesses with hotels and homes by providing full-stack technology.

And Oyo is not keeping their hands back when it comes to assisting their troubled partners in these challenging times of pandemic. They have come up with series of initiatives that will give thousands of partners.

‘Samarthan by OYO’

OYO has recently announced ‘Samarthan by OYO’ which includes several welfare benefits for the families of hotel partners and homeowners, deceased due to COVID-19.

In the unfortunate event of death due to COVID-19, bereavement support will include the following measures:

1. OYO will support the deceased partner’s family by transferring three months of the commission of take-rate to the property’s OYO Secure Wallet – a digital wallet for hotel and home-owners to give them real-time visibility of their earnings. Additionally, the company has waived off any pending dues against the property.

2. Fund the education of the partner’s children (up to two) for five years

3. Extend medical coverage of up to INR 5 Lakhs for the spouse and children (up to one) for a period of three years

4. Provide mentorship and internship opportunities to the eligible members of the deceased partner.

These efforts are in line with already ongoing efforts by the company to help its partners tread through these troubled times. The company’s effort to get hotel partners and their staff vaccinated through the ‘VaccinAid’ initiative has resulted in more than 2500+ hotels now declaring their staff as fully vaccinated, and this number is growing every day. The company has already MediBuddy to provide a dedicated 24/7 healthcare line for free consultation and guidance for its partners.

Partners are happy about this development

Mrs. Jyotshna Dash, wife of late OYO hotel partner Mr. Yudhisthir Dash from Capital O 9010 Hotel Railview, Bhubaneswar said, “We thank OYO and the on-ground team for all they did for us. Although it is challenging, my family and I find comfort that OYO is taking care of us through their ‘Samarthan’ initiative. With OYO’s support, my children will get the quality education and mentorship opportunities they deserve along with health protection.”

Mr. Lithesh Kumar, owner of Capital O 14731 Halcyonhillside Kukatpally, Hyderabad said, “The pandemic has deeply impacted OYO’s hotel and home-owners ecosystem. We are grieving the loss of some of our proud partners who lost their lives to COVID-19. In times like this, Samarthan by OYO initiative with its welfare benefits will support the impacted families of deceased OYO hotel partners to run their business smoothly in the coming months. I’m grateful for the continued support and how OYO is stepping up for the partner and home-owner community in the country.”
