Xiaomi Beats Apple, Now World’s No. 2: Upcoming Xiaomi Phones In India?

The previous rank holder Huawei is out of the top five, once a solid contender to Samsung.

As Huawei withdrew from different markets, its Chinese counterparts Oppo, Vivo and Xiaomi saw some stern growth. Currently manufacturers across the world are focusing on budget and mid-end 5G phones. The Chinese companies are looking for growth in the European market, while Samsung and Apple are already ahead in the European 5G market.

The global smartphone market is said to grow by 12 percent in 2021, as per the Canalys report. In terms of smartphone shipments, there will be around 1.4 billion smartphones in 2021. Compared to last year, the growth has been sharp. The smartphone shipments fell by 7% in 2020 due to the pandemic, lockdowns and restrictions in the market.

Xiaomi has seen massive growth in other global markets. The shipments increased more than 300 per cent in Latin America, 150 per cent in Africa, and 50 per cent in Western Europe. If the company continues to grow at a similar pace, it may soon overtake Samsung to become World’s No. 1 Smartphone Brand. Xiaomi saw huge success  in the mid-premium category with the Redmi Note 10 series and the Mi 11 series smartphones.
