COVID-19: The Race to the Finish Line, a paper issued by SBI Research, predicts that the covid third wave peak will occur in September 2021.

The research report says that India achieved its second wave peak on 7th May. “Going by the current data, India can experience cases around10,000 somewhere around the 2nd week of July. However, the cases can start rising by the second fortnight of August,” the report said.

India may see the much-feared third wave of the coronavirus pandemic from the middle of August and the COVID-19 cases would peak in September, said a report by the State Bank of India (SBI) while the country is still fighting with the second wave.

 According to global data, the peak cases of the third wave are almost 1.7 times those of the second wave but according to the data, cases will begin to rise in the second fortnight of August, with peak numbers occurring at least a month later.

According to 7 DMA, India has begun administering more than 40 lakh vaccine doses every day. India has fully immunised 4.6 per cent of its population, with the remaining 20.8 per cent receiving only one shot.

Only 4.6 per cent of the population in India is fully vaccinated, while 20.8 per cent have received one dose, much lower compared to other countries including the US (47.1 per cent), the UK (48.7 per cent), Israel (59.8 per cent), Spain (38.5 per cent), France (31.2), among others.
