74% Indians Demand Work From Home, 73% Miss Office; But 54% Are Overworked (Microsoft Survey)

A new Microsoft report showed on Thursday showed that the on one side 57 per cent employees feel overworked as digital intensity increases in the country whereas 3 in 4 Indian workers (74 per cent) are keen on flexible remote work options. This report comes around when the nation prepares to reopen after the lethal second Covid wave.

On the flipside, as much as 73 per cent of those surveyed said they are craving more in-person time with their teams.

Hybrid Model Most Likely To Be The Future

According to Microsoft India’s first annual ‘Work Trend Index’, 73 per cent of business decision makers are considering redesigning physical spaces to better accommodate hybrid work environments.

Characterized by extreme flexibility, hybrid work will define the post-pandemic workplace.

Rajiv Sodhi, Chief Operating Officer, Microsoft India said that rather than thinking work as a place, one must think it as of a frame of mind as every organisation is reimaging its work place.

The findings showed that one among four (24 per cent) Indian employees has cried with a colleague whereas 35 per cent people are less likely to feel embarrassed now when their home lives show up at work.

37 per cent people got to meet their coworkers’ families as living rooms made way for work meetings.

The report mentioned that as the digital burden has increased, genuine interactions with coworkers are helping to foster a workplace where 63 per cent of Indian workers said they are more likely to be their full, authentic selves at work.

Overworked & No Work Life Balance

While 13 per cent people saying that the employer doesn’t care about their work-life balance, 62 per cent of the Indian workforce says their companies are asking too much of them at a time like this.

While (57 per cent) of Indian employees feel overworked, 32 per cent are feeling exhausted.
