1 Cr Indians Will Get Vaccines Every Day From This Date; 100 Crore Vaccines Will Be Ordered

As much as one crore coronavirus vaccine doses will be administered to the citizens from August, as announced by Union Government.

The Government has already placed orders of nearly 100 crore vaccines in advance so that the vaccines will be here in August in batches.

Government Aims To Complete One Crore Vaccination Jabs Daily By August

As per a senior government official, the government aims to complete the vaccination of one crore people daily in August. The official stated that the new centralized free vaccination policy will definitely contribute to reaching this target.

As of this month, the daily vaccination has been clocked at an average of 30 lakh.

The Serum Institute has been also been recently given the go ahead to manufacture the Sputnik V coronavirus jab that can be used for examination, test, and analysis of the COVID-19 virus. The Serum Institute had applied to the Drug Controller General of India asking permission for the same just days before.

As per an official source, “The DCGI has granted permission to the Serum Institute to manufacture the Sputnik COVID-19 vaccine in India for examination, test and analysis at its licensed Hadapsar facility with certain conditions.”

Serum Institute To Manufacture 95 Crore Doses of Vaccine

Recently, there was news that between August and December, the Serum Institute of India (SII) will manufacture 75 crore doses of Covishield and 20 crore doses of the Novavax vaccine, totaling 95 crore doses.

“Two billion doses (216 crores) will be made in the country in five months for India and people of India. The vaccine is available for all as we move forward,” Niti Aayog member VK Paul said.

He added that by the first quarter of the next year, this number is likely to be three billion.

He also stated that India needs to “absorb” the massive increase in vaccination supplies that will be coming in from August.

While initially, in August, the target for vaccination will be one crore and is expected to rise further in the next few months. 

As per Paul, the Centre has placed an order for 44 crore vaccines with Serum Institute of India (SII) and Bharat Biotech (BB). these vaccines will be supplied in batches between the months of August and December.

Biotech-E is also expected to start supplying from September the advance order of 30 crore vaccines placed with it. These will be expected in 8 crore vaccines every month, making the order to 74 crores.
