Flipkart Hired 23,000 Delivery, Warehouse Staff During 2nd Corona Wave In India: Find Out Why?

Surge in online demand required Flipkart’s supply chain to catch up and in turn, created thousands of open positions.

Flipkart hired 23,000 workers in the past 3 months, from March to May 2021, despite the pandemic that is raging on.

The firm said that the health and safety of the new hires will remain uncompromised with its healthcare and wellness initiatives.

Growing Demand Requires New Hires

The hires cover various positions in the supply chain including delivery persons.

It also cited growing demands for ecommerce retailers to fulfil as people are once more confined indoors.

On top of that, the government has prohibited non-essential items from being delivered, leaving online retailers to service essential and daily items’ orders instead.

The surge in demand required Flipkart’s supply chain to catch up and in turn, created thousands of open positions.

Training For Workers

As part of its health initiatives, Covid safety behavior will be encouraged along with strict safety regulations and protocols to be maintained in its warehouses.

Workers will also be made aware of safety and sanitation measures in order to ensure their and the customers’ safety.

The new employees will also undergo job training in aspects of supply chain which covers customer service, delivery, installation and managing hand-held devices, PoS Machines, scanners, various mobile applications and ERPs  (enterprise resource planning).

The trainings will be carried out through virtual means such as WhatsApp, Zoom, and Hangout, along with Flipkart’s own Learning Management System.

Flipkart’s Supply Chain Ambitions

It also needs to ramp up its operations. Presently it fulfils 64,000 orders a day, a figure which will definitely rise given the newly boosted supply chain.

Flipkart is also aiming to establish a strong network of grocery supply chains throughout the country.

It will work with brand and marketplace partners to ensure abundance of grocery stock across India.

This will enable them to fulfil orders of daily essentials faster with contactless doorstep delivery.
