On Sunday, a high level meeting was conducted in Maharashtra, wherein State CM along with Health Minister and other important leaders discussed the prevailing high number of cases coming up in the state.

We just reported that a complete lockdown can be imposed in the state after April 14th. This is a big hint by the State Health Minister.

Now, as per another reports, its being speculated that Mumbai local can be shut down for general public, very soon.

Mumbai Local Can Be Shut Down?

As per a report by Mumbai Live, Maharashtra minister Vijay Wadettiwar has given a hint that Mumbai suburban train service or Mumbai Local trains can be shut down for general public in the coming days.

Only those who are part of essential services such as healthcare workers may be only allowed for travel in the local trains, just like last lockdown.

Since February 1st, Mumbai local trains were resumed for the general public.

Some insiders are also claiming that Mumbai local can be shut down completely in case the number of new infections doesn’t subside. 

Current Timings Of Mumbai Local

After months of lockdown, Mumbai local trains started from February 1st for general public.

As of now, the time slots reserved for essential workers are:

7AM to 12PM

4PM to 9PM

For the general public, the 1st local train will start at 7AM.

They can use the local trains between 12PM to 4PM, and the last train they can board is at 9PM.

But now, since Maharashtra is grappling with high number of cases, and everyone is trying to break the chain of new infections, Mumbai local train timings can be curtailed, or completely shut down.

The decision is expected to be taken after April 14th.
