In an interesting pro-employee move, a major Indian bank has decided to roll out work from home allowance and fitness allowance to all employees.
However, proof and evidence are mandatory!

Kotak Mahindra Bank Will Give Work From Home Allowance
Under a new, and innovative program called ‘Health to the Power Infinity’ programme’, Kotak Mahindra Bank has declared that all employees will now get work from home allowance along with fitness allowance.
This is probably the first such instance when a bank will provide work from home or remote working allowance for all employees.
Employees will be categorized based on their working locations, and those who are working from home, will receive special allowance for managing things at home, and to continue working.
Kotak Mahindra Bank already has a Kotak’s Remote Working policy, based on which, the special allowance will be rolled out.
Fitness Allowance For All Employees
Besides, in another innovative program seldom seen in India, employees will be provided with fitness allowance as well.
However, there is a catch here..
For getting fitness allowance, the employees will need to show proof of their fitness activities, and fitness goals.
Kotak Mahindra Group’s Chief Human Resources officer Sukhjit Pasricha said,
“The new normal has brought with it a unique set of challenges. In a work-from-home environment, it’s been seen that work-life balance is getting impacted, and we give utmost importance to employee well being ? physical and emotional, always,”
The objective is that the bank should know whether fitness allowance is helping the employees or not. And by defining the fitness goals, the employees will be able to get motivated and inspired as well.
A win-win situation.
The bank has already roped in celebrity yoga acharya and best-selling author Ira Trivedi for conducting live yoga sessions for all employees.
