Vivo is all set to launch its premium smartphone, the Vivo V20 Pro, in India next week. After the launch of Vivo V20, its mid-range variant earlier this year in India, now the company has sent out invites for a virtual launch of the premium smartphone on December 2.

Superfast fifth generation, or 5G, mobile internet services are already on offer. You can’t get it everywhere yet and handset choices remain limited. There are only a handful of 5G phones in India currently, and Vivo V20 Pro is all set to join them. The world is going mobile and we’re consuming more data every year, particularly as the popularity of video and music streaming increases. Existing spectrum bands are becoming congested, leading to breakdowns in service, particularly when lots of people in the same area are trying to access online mobile services at the same time. Hence 5G, and looking forward to filling the gap Vivo came up with its new premium phone.

The smartphone which has already been launched in Thailand  looks nearly identical to the Vivo V20 on all fronts other than the 5G branding as well as wider notch accommodating the dual front cameras, as far as it can be perceived from images.

With Vivo V20 Pro, Vivo is emphasising the camera features like eye tracking autofocus feature of the front camera which especially aids video blogging.

Specifications Of Vivo V20 Pro

·       “5G”

·       Qualcomm Snapdragon 765G SoC

·       8GB RAM and 128GB internal storage

·       6.44″ FHD+ AMOLED screen with an in-display fingerprint scanner

·       Rear camera : 64 MP main camera, an 8 MP ultrawide, and a 2 MP depth sensor capable of recording 4K videos at 30fps, and full HD videos at up to 60fps.

·       44 MP main selfie snapper as well as an 8 MP ultrawide

·       4,000 mAh battery

·       33W fast charging

·       Android 10 with Funtouch 11

With all these features what will really be interesting to see is whether the new model offers significantly better usage experience. As with the V20, the V20 Pro will also retain the same colour variants, of which the most notable is the striking gradient shade that Vivo calls ‘Sunset Melody’.

Pricing & Competition

Smartphone space is overcrowded and is intensely competitive, and hence pricing is a very crucial decision to be made and it determines how it will fare against competition. Speculations say that the gadget may cost around 29,900 in India. The Thailand pricing for the same model was THB 14,999 which roughly translates to 36600. Since, pricing decides the direct competition. Hence the phones in the bracket of 30000-35000 are the prime competitors with OnePlus Nord, Google Pixel 4a running on android and the Apple iPhone SE 2020.

All eyes will be on Vivo on December 2 when it unveils the phone, to see if it manages to undercut its competition’s pricing, or if the V20 Pro succeeds in outperforming the heavy competition it is gunning at.
