Indian Railways Launches BTech, MBA, MSc Courses
Under National Rail and Transportation Institute, Indian Railways has launched 7 core courses categorized under BTech (Engineering), MBA and MSc programs.
Under BTech, there are three courses, which are:
Rail Infrastructure
Rail Systems
Communications Engineering
Under MSc, there are 3 courses:
Systems Engineering and Integration
Systems and Analytics
Policy and Economics
Under MBA, there is one course:
Transportation and Supply Chain Management
The MSc program for Systems Engineering and Integration has been designed in collaboration with the University of Birmingham, UK.
VK Yadav, Chairman and CEO, Railway Board said, “NRTI has adopted an interdisciplinary approach for research of transport systems – it is bringing together academicians, scientists and engineers from various backgrounds, and plans to leverage its academic and industry partnerships and collaborations.”

- BSc Transportation Technology
- MSc in Transport Technology and Policy
- MSc in Transport Economics
- MSc in Transport Information Systems and Analytics

How To Get Admission?
To get admission into National Rail and Transportation Institute, candidates need to clear Admission Aptitude Test (NRTI-AAT), which is conducted in the month of June, every year.
For undergraduate courses, eligibility is 10+2 with Physics, Maths and Chemistry.
For post-graduate courses, eligibility is graduation.
Candidates must be under 25 years of age for applying to any course.
Asper Govt mandates, there is a provision of reservation as well:
General+EWS – 50.5%
OBC – 27%
SC – 15%
ST – 7.5%
NTRI is India’s 1st University which is focused on transport related studies, research and multi-disciplinary training. It’s located in Vadodara, and right now housed under National Academy of Indian Railways (NAIR).
It was inaugurated by PM Modi in 2018.
