Since all the states and Centre are pushing for electric vehicles, we can see a rise in the total number of sales of electric vehicles, and this is a positive news for entire India.
100% Tax Exemption For All Electric Vehicles In Tamil Nadu
Additional Chief Secretary S.K. Prabhakar in Tamil Nadu has issued a Govt order, which states that all electric vehicles sold in the state will have 100% tax exemption.
This covers both commercial and private vehicles.
Tax exemption for commercial vehicles is indeed a big deal, since trucks are the most expensive electric vehicle, and a tax exemption will be a big attraction for new buyers.
This 100% tax exemption for all vehicles will be valid for years, and will end on December 31, 2022.
Transport Commissioner T.S. Jawahar hailed this decision, as he informed that this move by State Govt will push for more sales of electric vehicles, and will bring down pollution as well. He was instrumental in triggering this decision, as he wrote a letter to Chief Minister Edappadi K. Palaniswami asking for the same.
Earlier, Tamil Nadu had announced 50% waiver in tax for the sale of electric vehicles which were non-commercial in nature.
But now, the 100% tax exemption will cover all the vehicles.
