Data and numbers regarding global smartphone sales have come in, for Q2 of 2020 (June-August), and there are some major surprises.

Samsung has again become #1 smartphone brand globally, there by beating Huawei, but in India, Xiaomi has again beaten them.

Here are the exciting details.

Samsung Becomes #1 Smartphone Brand Globally

For the period between June to August, 2020, Samsung has sold the maximum number of smartphones globally, thereby becoming world’s #1 smartphone brand.

They have beaten Huawei to reclaim their #1 spot.

Samsung cornered 22% market share globally in smartphone sales, compared to 16% by Huawei, which has now slipped to #2 spot.

Meanwhile Apple is comfortably positioned at #3 rank with 12% marketshare, followed by Xiaomi at 11% global share.

Last year for the same period, Xiaomi had 8% share, and Apple had same 12%.

Hence, Xiaomi too cemented its position and increased markert share by a huge margin.

But Xiami Again Beats Samsung In India

Although Samsung has increased their market share by whooping 10% in India, compared to last quarter, they have still been outranked by Xiaomi.

With 29% market share, Xiaomi is still #1 smartphone brand in India, although their market share has decreased by 1%.

At the same time, Samsung has been able to increase their market share from 16% in Q1 of 2020 to 26% in Q2 of 2020, thereby recording their best performance in the last 3 years.

With 17% share, Vivo is at #3 position, beating Realme which is still at #4 position with 11%.

Realme too has lost market share from 14% in last quarter to 11% in Q2.

Oppo too has lost their market share from 12% to 9%.
