So, can Poco X3 beat its predecessor Poco X2?

Design, Display: Poco X3 vs Poco X2

Poco X3 comes with an impressive set of features and specifications. Poco X3 houses a 6.67-inch Full HD+ display running on a 120Hz refresh rate with 240mss touch sampling rate. It’s an IPS LCD panel and not an AMOLED one. In comparison, Poco X2 features a similar 6.67-inch Full HD+ display.

The Poco X2 display offers a 120Hz refresh rate in an 20:9 aspect ratio. The only difference is with the dual hole-punch cameras upfront on Poco X2.

Poco X3 features a single punch-hole upfront. Both the devices are protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 5. The devices don’t feature an AMOLED panel. In terms of ergonomics and design, the devices are mostly same including the side-mounted fingerprint sensor.

Hardware, Storage: Poco X3 vs Poco X2

Poco X2 is powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 730G. Poco X2 is available in three different storage models: the base model with 6GB RAM and 64GB storage, a mid-end model with 8GB RAM and 128GB storage, and finally the top model will come with 12GB RAM and 256GB storage.

Under the hood, Poco X3 runs on Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon 732G chipset. 

Poco X3 is the first phone to use the new Snapdragon 732G. The Snapdragon chip pairs with 6GB of RAM and up to 256GB of storage. 

The hardware has an integrated cooling technology called LiquidCool 1.0 Plus system.

If compared, the new mid-range Snapdragon chip comes with some substantial improvement over last year’s Snapdragon 730G. In terms of day to day performance, both Poco X2 and Poco X3 will perform the same without any difference. Gaming on Poco X3 will also remain very similar as the predecessor.

Software, UI: Poco X2 vs Poco X3

Poco X2 runs on the latest Android 10 with MIUI 11 out-of-the-box with a special Poco launcher on top. The UI comes loaded with features and bloatware, and delivers a clean performance as any other non-stock device. MIUI 12 Poco X2 update has been rolled out, and can immediately be updated. 

For MIUI 12 lovers there’s some good news. Poco X3 has MIUI 12 running out-of-the-box.

The new MIUI 12 offers improved animations, visuals, unlocking speeds, app switches, enhanced control in landscape mode and more. 

Cameras: Poco X3 vs Poco X2

Both Poco X2 and Poco X3 feature a rear quad camera setup. The four cameras at the back on Poco X2 include the latest 64-megapixel Sony IMX686 sensor. It is further supported by a 2-megapixel camera, a 5-megapixel sensor, and an 8-megapixel wide angle camera.

In terms of optics, the Poco X3 has a quad-camera setup. The four camera system comprises of a primary 64-megapixel Sony IMX682 sensor with f/1.9 aperture along, a 13-megapixel ultra-wide-angle camera with f/2.2 aperture.

Along with the two sensors, there are two 2-megapixel cameras for depth and macro shots. Upfront, Poco X3 gets a single-lens camera sensor this time compared to the dual lens on Poco X2.

Both the smartphones can capture some great shots in spite of difficult lighting conditions. We recently tested the new Sony IMX682 sensor on Realme 7 Pro, the same sensor used on Poco X3. So colours on Poco X3 are going to be quite accurate with proper white balance playing the role. Poco X2 also excels in difficult conditions.

Battery, Fast Charging: Poco X2 vs Poco X3

Finally, coming to the battery, the Poco X2 houses a sizable 4,500mAh battery. It’s good enough to run for more than a day. Poco X2 also supports 27W fast charging tech, and will ship with the 27W fast charger with the box.

Poco X2 with 27W fast charging can be charged from 0 to 40 percent in 25 minutes.

Finally, coming to the battery, Poco X3 houses a larger 5,160mAh battery.

Poco X3 battery can be charged fully in 65 minutes and it ships with a 33W charger. Poco X3 supports 33W fast charging technology, and ships with the fast charging 33W adapter as the predecessor. On top, the Poco X3 gets NFC, an IR Blaster and a 3.5mm jack.  

Pricing, Availability: Poco X3 vs Poco X2

Poco X2 price in India starts at Rs 17,499 now after GST hike for the base model comes with 6GB RAM and 64GB storage. The mid-end 6GB RAM and 128GB storage model is priced at Rs 18,499 while the top-end variant of Poco X2 with 8GB RAM and 256GB storage now costs at Rs 21,499.

Poco X2 is available exclusively in India via Flipkart and Mi online store.

Poco X3 has been launched in two variants. The new Poco flagship will be available in two colour options: Cobalt Blue and Shadow Gray. Both the colours will have the latest Chroma design.

The Poco X3 price starts at Euro 229 (around Rs 19,880), will now be available for a limited price of Euro 199 (around Rs 17,280). The higher-end Poco X3 is priced at Euro 269 (around Rs 23,360).

Poco X3 sale starts on September 8. Poco X3 price in India may start at Rs 17,999 for the base model. Poco X3 India launch is expected in a couple of weeks from now. Poco X3 launch in India seems probable by October. Poco X3 Flipkart availability can also be confirmed given the brand’s tie with Flipkart.
