Confirmed! Bengaluru Airport Will Have A Railway Station; Rs 30 Fare For Reaching Airport From City

The Bengaluru airport will have a “gift” from the Indian Railways – a halt railway station will be coming up near the Kempegowda airport. The news of this upcoming railway station would be a great relief for everyone, especially those who work at the International Airport.

There has been a lot of demand for such a provision so that traveling to the airport is easier, given the complicated traffic situation in Bengaluru.

Railway Station Halt Coming Up Near Kempegowda Airport Bengaluru: Minister Of Railways

The Minister of Railways and Commerce & Industry Piyush Goyal announced the launch of a halt railways station near the Kempegowda International Airport, Bengaluru. He said that this would be a gift from the Indian Railways to Bengaluru flyers. 

He confirmed this through Twitter, saying, “Railways’ Gift to Bengaluru Flyers: Fulfilling decade-old demand of people, a halt Railway Station is coming up near Kempegowda International Airport, Bengaluru

Providing relief from road traffic, this facility will allow people to comfortably travel to the airport.”

Earlier, reports had emerged that the train fare for Bengaluru Airport halt from main city will be just Rs 30.

Free Shuttle Service Between Airport And Railway Station, Six Trains To Stop At The Station

As per reports, the distance between the railway station and the airport would be about two to three kilometers. Also, there will be a free shuttle service between the two for the flyers. All the six trains that are running on this section of the railways will be stopping at the upcoming stoppage point near the airport.

As of now, customers who wish to go to the airport depend primarily on road transportation to travel to the airport from the main city and vice versa. The distance between the Bengaluru’s Central Business District and the Kempegowda International Airport is 40 kilometers. Add to that the traffic of the city and the situation is very stressful for everyone in Bengaluru. 

There has been a lot of demand for a railway station near the airport for over 10 years. In July, there was news from the official Twitter handle of the national transporter about the Railway station being completed by August 2020.
