Mitron app, which was touted as the TikTok challenger in India and gained 50 lakh users within few weeks, has been banned by Google Playstore.
This app is no longer available for download.
Reason for Mitron app being taken down by Google Playstore is violating content policies, and spamming.
Why Mitron App Was Pulled Down?
As we shared earlier, Mitron app was not an Made in India app to challenge TikTok, but a cheap, Rs 2500 worth clone of a Pakistani app.
And Google Playstore’s policy clearly states that an existing app, without any modifications or changes cannot be offered on their store.
Google’s policy states: “We don’t allow apps that merely provide the same experience as other apps already on Google Play. Apps should provide value to users through the creation of unique content or services,”.
Any app available on Google playstore should provide “basic degree of functionality and a respectful user experience.”
It seems Mitron app missed on all these parameters, and was suspended from the store.
Security Risks With Mitron App
Recently, a security research firm found some extreme vulnerabilities with the Mitron app, and informed that any user can be hacked within seconds for using this app.
As per researcher Rahul Kankrale, the app’s Login with Google option was filled with loopholes, which can be exploited within seconds.
SInce the app has been removed from the Google Store, there is less risk now,
None the less, the removal of Mitron app from Google Playstore can be termed as a big win for TikTok, which was feeling the heat generated from the rising popularity of Mitron app.
