Karnataka Allows Malls, Liquor Shops To Open After May 3; Some States Can Relax Rules

Karnataka has allowed the opening of malls, liquor stores and other commerical establishments after May 3rd.

Besides, some other states too can relax lockdown rules.

Karnataka Can Allow Malls, Liquor Stores

Karnataka Govt held a crucial meeting to discuss the possible course of action, after May 3rd, when the 2nd phase of lockdown ends.

As per the statements given by Karnataka CM, its clear that malls, liquor stores, and a host of economic activities will be resumed from May 4th.

However, this relaxation will only happen in the green and orange zones, and the red zones, which are also called the containment zones, the strict lockdown rules will apply.

After coming out of the meeting, chief minister BS Yediyurappa said, “As Covid-19 cases are likely to continue for 2-3 months, both economic activities and efforts to control the pandemic must go hand in hand. We’ve decided to give permission to start industrial and commercial activities in all places, except the containment zones, from May 4.”

Since last week, Karanataka has taken some bold decisions, and allowed opening of various sectors, offices in a planned manner.

While IT and ITeS sector, along with selected industries and 15 government departments  were allowed to operate, Govt also allowed agriculture operations, standalone shops to be opened as well. All these relaxations happened only in those areas which are not in the red zone.

In Bengaluru, the red zones are restricted to only 24 containment zones in 34 wards.

Lockdown Rules Can Be Relaxed In Some States After May 3rd

Govt has already indicated that the strict lockdown rules can be relaxed for several states, where new cases have stopped, and recovery rates are high.

On April 29th, Home Ministry tweeted: “New guidelines to fight #COVID19 will come into effect from 4th May, which shall give considerable relaxations to many districts. Details regarding this shall be communicated in the days to come,”

MHA held a comprehensive review meeting on the #lockdown situation today. There've been tremendous gains & improvement in the situation due to lockdown till now.
To ensure that these gains are not squandered away, the lockdown guidelines should be strictly observed till 3rd May.

Interstate travel has already been allowed for migrant workers and tourists, students stranded across the country, but trains havent been allowed yet.
