The outbreak of Coronavirus is resulting in scenarios never seen before, one of which is Flipkart joining hands with Uber to take care of deliveries of essential services to the public. 

The entire country has been in a lockdown for about three weeks now, but the government has given permission to the e-commerce portals to operate and deliver essentials goods to the customers.

Uber India Collaborates With Flipkart To Deliver Essential Goods And Services

Uber has joined hands with Flipkart, resuming some of its services in India to help deliver essential goods like groceries and stuff with the help of Flipkart. This partnership is set to work in n Delhi, Mumbai and Bengaluru, and is expected to be extended to other cities as well. 

Uber India and South Asia director operations and head of cities Prabhjeet Singh has revealed that this partnership went live on Monday, i.e., Monday. This is the third such partnership in India, following Spencer’s Retail and BigBasket.

He said, “This service will enables containment of Covid-19 and also offer our driver partners opportunity to participate in earning opportunity making it a win-win for everybody. We are not charging any commission and all the earnings in these business to business deals is directly passed on to the driver partner allowing them extra earning opportunity.”

Partnership Will Ensure Delivery Of Essential Supplies In Less Time

Flipkart’s chief corporate affairs officer Rajneesh Kumar has also said that this partnership will help to move essential supplies from the sellers/vendors to the customers in the shortest possible span of time.

Kumar said, “Flipkart remains committed to supporting our customers and we are mobilizing all possible options to ensure that in this national fight against Corona, we can support the governments, by delivering essential supplies to people who are staying indoors.”

Uber India is also taking up training sessions for driver partners in health and safety standards and has also provided them with mask, gloves and sanitizers so that they dont contract the virus and neither do the customers.
