Amidst the lockdown which entire India is right now undergoing to stop coronavirus being spread, Govt has decided to re-telecast 5 popular, blockbuster TV serials from the past.

While we reported about Ramayana being re-run on Doordarshan everyday betweet 9AM to 10AM, and 9PM to 10PM, more TV serials will be now broadcasted.

Mahabharat Will Be Re-broadcasted Every Day

After Ramayana, Govt has ordered Doordarshan to re-run popular historical TV series: Mahabharat as well. Starting Saturday, Mahabharat will be telecasted at afternoon 12 and evening 7.

Announcing this, Prakash Javadekar, Information & Broadcasting Minister tweeted: “Happy to announce that DD Bharati will relay from tomorrow Saturday 28th March, the popular serial ‘Mahabharat’ at 12 noon and 7 pm every day.”

Produced by BR Chopra, the original Mahabharat TV serial was first broadcasted in 1988, whose script was written by Urdu poet Rahi Masoom Raza.

Along with Ramayana, which was first broadcasted in 1987, Mahabharat was a blockbuster hit among TV viewers that time.

Some of the popular actors who were casted in Mahabharat include: Nitish Bhardwaj, Puneet Issar, Roopa Ganguly, Pankaj Dheer, Mukesh Khanna, Gajendra Chauhan, and each one of them became an icon in the TV industry.

Chanakya, Circus, Byomkesh Bakshi Will Be Re-Run

Along with the mythological and religious blockbusters, Doordarshan will also run other popular TV serials from the past: Chanakya, Circus, Byomkesh Bakshi.

Starring  Shahrukh Khan and Ashutosh Gowariker, Circus was first broadcasted in 1988, and was directed by y Aziz Mirza and Kundan Shah. Circus TV series later formed the foundation for Shahrukh Khan, which helped him enter Bollywood, and become a superstar.

Directed by Dr. Chandraprakash Dwivedi, Chankya was also a very popular TV series, which was first broadcasted in 1991.

Byomkesh Bakshi, which attained the status of a cult show, was first telecasted in 1993. Starring  Rajit Kapur and K.K. Raina as Byomkesh Bakshi and Ajit Kumar Banerji, Byomkesh Bakshi was directed by Basu Chatterjee.

Timing of the re-telecast of Chanakya, Circus, Byomkesh Bakshi havent been announced yet. We will keep you updated, as more details come in.
