The dangerous Coronavirus or Covid-19 has managed to paralyze the world in quite a short span. The number of people that tested positive has crossed 110, and the death toll is at 2.

Lockdown has been imposed in cities, and companies are shutting down and urging their employees to work from home. Falling in step are Uber and Ola, who have now issued guidelines to ensure the safety of their passengers and their riders from this deadly virus.

Ola, Uber Issue Health Guidelines For Drivers And Passengers

The cab-hailing services have announced that both the driver partners and their customers too so that they are protected from the virus. In a statement, Ola said that the driver partners have been given hand sanitizers and face masks. Ola has also been training the drivers to maintain personal hygiene and cab hygiene as well. 

In a statement Ola said, “If drivers notice customers displaying flu like symptoms, they will immediately reach out to 24×7 Ola Care helpline.” Ola has also instructed drivers to self quarantine themselves in case they see any symptoms of Coronavirus.

Passengers are also told to contact the company if they have ridden in a car in the past seven days and tested positive for the virus or are displaying symptoms. If the driver tests out positive, the company will also contact the customers and concerned authorities. 

Additionally, the company asks passengers who felt if their driver showed any signs of the virus should get in touch with the company through the Ola helpline. Customers have also been asked to maintain their health and hygiene by using sanitizers and washing their hands after every ride.

Uber To Provide Financial Aid To Drivers Who Test Positive For Covid-19

Uber has released a statement wherein they said that they will be temporarily suspending the accounts of riders or drivers who are confirmed cases of Covid-19 or have been exposed to the virus. They have also directed the drivers to self-isolate themselves, and they will also be aided financially for 14 days while their account is on hold.

Uber’s statement states, “Supplies are very limited, but we’re partnering with manufacturers and distributors to source as much as possible. We’ll be prioritization and distribution to drivers in cities with the greatest need.”

Uber is also providing its drivers with disinfectants to keep their cars clean. The company has also said that they are consulting with an epidemiologist to ensure that their efforts as a company are grounded in medical advice.
