After Bengaluru and Hyderabad, it’s the turn of Pune to get gripped by coronavirus panic.

After an IT employees who recently returned from Dubai was infected with this deadly virus, the office where he worked has been shut down, and employees were evacuated to stop further spread.

Family members of this unnamed IT employee have also tested positive, so has the Ola driver who brought them from Mumbai to Pune.

Pune IT Company Shuts Down Over Coronavirus Impact

A portion of Tower 7 in Magapatta City in Hadapsar area of Pune has been evacuated, and the premises shut down.

The office is now being sanitized, and employees have been asked to work from home for an undisclosed period.

The office where the infected employee went is situated on level 4 of tower 7 in the Magarpatta City area, which houses hundreds of IT companies, and thousands of IT employees work there.

The company sent a message to all employees: “The employee has been quarantined and is being provided medical facilities. As a precautionary step, the office on Magarpatta City will remain closed. No employee should visit the office. There will be deep cleaning in office. Also we are in contact with the concerned authorities to know if more employees need to undergo tests.”

This move to seal off the office premises has also been confirmed by Satish Magar, the Chairman and Managing Director of Magarpatta. 

He said, “As a precautionary measure, the area where the company is located has been completely sealed off.”

The office management is in touch with hospitals around the area, and steps are being taken to safeguard the area, and ensure that no further spread happens.

Pune Mayor Asks Everyone Not To Panic

After the IT employee who traveled from Dubai was diagnosed with coronavirus, there was panic and chaos in the city.

Pune City Mayor Murlidhar Mohol has appealed to everyone, not to panic, and take precautions not to spread the virus anymore.

He has asked everyone not to gather, and visit places where people are gathering. He said, “We all should take utmost care and avoid going to the crowded places,”
