Govt of India and Finance Ministry has decided to launch a massive campaign to inspire everyone to demand bills and invoices with GST from merchants.
Under this endeavor, consumers would be now able to win lottery of Rs 1 crore, by showing GST bill.

Under Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs (CBIC), Govt. will soon launch a GST lottery offer, for all Indian consumers.
The premise is simple: Show your GST bill and invoice, and participate in the lottery.
In the lottery, there will be awards from Rs 10 lakh to Rs 1 crore, which every participant can win.
As per Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs (CBIC) member John Joseph, every consumer with any invoice having the proof of GST being paid can participate in the lottery, and win upto Rs 1 crore.
What Is The Logic Behind This Campaign?
The logic is generating awareness about GST and GST bills and invoices.
Most of the times, the corrupt shopkeeper and merchant will ask the customer to forget about bill/invoice for any product/service, and in return, pay less money.
This way, the merchants avoid paying taxes, and its a big loss for the Govt.
Now, by offering lottery rewards upto Rs 1crore, Govt. will directly and indirectly inspire the consumer to demand bills from the merchants and shopkeeper, and thereby trigger more tax collection.
As per reports, GST bills and invoices of any amount will be eligible for the lottery draw.
Joseph said, “…It will go for a draw and price are so high that people will say that by not saving 28 per cent, I have a chance of winning Rs 1 crore or Rs 10 lakh. It is a question of changing the consumer behaviour,”
Once the consumer gets the bill, it has to be uploaded on a portal, which will make them eligible to participate in the lottery.
