We have covered several stories regarding the stringent norms to enter America, especially after President Trump’s desire to make America great again. The rate at which the Indian visas have been rejecting is phenomenal in number. While the work visa rejection rate is elevating for Indian IT companies situated in the US, 70% Indian nationals are continuing to get visa almost normally for US based companies like Amazon and Google.

However, now with the start of September, United States have declared that they shall be working on simplifying the rigid visa application processes simpler for Indians, starting from September 1.

US to Simplify the Visa Applications for Indians

Well, the news here is that now your opportunity for visiting the States might get better, as US as declared to work on making the visa application process simpler for Indians. From Sept 1, certain applicants may get an off from the ‘mandatory’ interview. This means that the whole visa process may get shorter for Indians.

As per the US Consulate, the initiative is aimed to reduce turnaround times for visa renewals and improve the customer service for visa applicants across India. Those applicants who are renewing their US visa (subjected to certain conditions), children below the age of 14 and senior citizens above the age of 79, can qualify for an interview waiver, while applying for a US visa.

The Procedure for your Convenience

The US Consulate also said that all the eligible applicants must schedule an appointment date to drop off their passport and visa application materials at one of its 11 locations in the country, from Sept 1.

Once done, one of the visa application centre employees shall review the checklist of the documents before accepting the application for delivery to the US Embassy or to the Consulate and the applicant shall receive a decision in 7-10 business days of submission.

Maybe sometime, an applicant could have to come down for an interview at the post selected for interview waiver processing. Once documents are submitted, it is not possible to transfer cases between posts. Applicants who will have to appear for an interview will be notified on how to proceed.

Some Highlighters

In India, the US visa application centres are present in New Delhi, Chennai, Mumbai, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Kochi, Jalandhar, Chandigarh, Pune and Ahmedabad. The US’ share of the global long-haul travel market is on a four-year slide since its previous high of 13.7% in 2015, falling to 11.7% in 2018, as per US Travel Association.

This decline in market share represents losses to the US economy of 14 million international visitors, $59 billion in international traveler spending, and 120,000 jobs.
