These Indian Startups Are Offering Average Salary Of Rs 60 Lakh Per Year – What Are The Profiles?

Flushed with fresh funds, and aiming the stars, young Indian unicorns have ramped up recruitment drive, for the top positions.

Infact, most of the these Indian startups are offering an average salary of Rs 60 lakh, and in some case, it can go upto Rs 1.5 crore as well.

Oyo, Zomato, Swiggy: Salary Of Rs 60 Lakh Average

Oyo along with Swiggy and Zomato are the unicorn startups, which are offering an average of Rs 60 lakh salary right now to candidates in the top levels.

Collectively, these three startups have hired 214 people in the top position, with an average salary of Rs 60 lakh.

Infact, Swiggy has just hired their first chief financial officer, chief operating officer and head of engineering. This is interesting, because they are now spread across 120 cities, and now, their aim is to scale fast.

Young Indian Unicorns Now Want To Scale Fast

In case of Swiggy and Oyo, along with Zomato to some extent, their biggest sim right now is expanding and scaling quickly, and this is the reason they are not hesitent to pay top money to the right candidate.

20% of the new hire in the top position are getting an average salary of Rs 1 to Rs 1.5 crore, as their experience is being valued and appreciated.

Overall, 16 starts which became Unicorns have hired 350+ top leadership positions, with average salary of Rs 60 lakh.

For example Oyo Rooms, which have allocated Rs 1400 crore for recruitment drive, has plans to hire top talents in technology, operations, civil engineering, data sciences, distribution and design.

Since 2017, their technology and sales team have increased by 3X.

As per Dinesh Ramamurthi, CHRO, Oyo Hotels & Homes, their emerging technologies team is now 600 people strong, which was 100 in 2017. Whereas their business development team is now 750 people strong, which was 170 in 2017.

At the same time, Zomato now has 5000 employees, which has almost doubled since 2017.

From Where Are The Employees Being Hired?

As per reports from Xpheno, the Unicorns are selecting the top tier B-Schools for their recruitment.

30% of the new hires for top leadership position have been hired from XLRI, FMS, SP Jain, NMIMS, Symbiosis, TAPMI, IMT. At the same time, engineering colleges such as  BITS Pilani, and premier NITs including Trichy, Surathkal and Allahabad are also being considered.

Xpheno also revealed that most of these new hired for top leadership positions are from marketing, sales and product specialization, followed by logistics/supply chain and technology teams.
