Official List Of India’s Top 10 Institutes Is Out: Find Out If Yours Is In The List?

Among the countless educational institutes in India, Indian Institute of Technology, Madras is the one which tops the list, which is followed by Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore, and IIT Delhi is third in line.

In the overall national ranking by the education ministry of higher institutes, there are seven IIT institutes in the top ten list.

An Initiative by the Ministry of HRD

Keeping up with the tradition of each year, the Ministry of Human Resource Development (HRD) has released the list of the top educational institutes of India on Monday. This list is released every year, starting from the year 2016.

These institutes are ranked as per a method designed by the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF), an initiative by the Ministry of HRD. Also, it requires the approval of the education ministry.

At the event conducted especially for releasing the list of NIRF 2019, Ramnath Kovind, President of India, said that such ranking systems help promote a healthy spirit of competition between educational institutes. He said, “This is vital because all institutions are today competing for talent- teaching talent, research talent, the most talented students, and even most enlightened administrators.”

Education Ministry’s Top Ten List (Overall Category)

IIT Madras has emerged as the best educational institute, followed by the IISc, Bangalore. IIT Delhi stands third, IIT-Bombay stands fourth, IIT-Kharagpur bagged the fifth position, and at the sixth position is IIT Kanpur. JNU and IIT Roorkee bagged the seventh and eighth position, while IIT Guwahati and BHU came in ninth and tenth position respectively.

With a promise to continue the excellence and quality, Bhaskar Ramamurthi, Director of IIT Madras said, “We are delighted that our efforts to constantly improve our course programmes, research, and industry collaboration, as well the creation of a world-class innovation ecosystem in India’s first-of-its-kind Research Park at IIT Madras, are being recognized.”

Management, Medical, and Other Categories

The Indian Institute of Management, Bangalore topped the list of the best management schools in India. IIM Ahmedabad stands second and IIM Calcutta third, followed by IIM Lucknow and IIM Indore at the fourth and fifth position respectively.

Moving on to the medical schools of India, the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), New Delhi was ranked first, followed by Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research, and Chandigarh and Christian Medical College, Vellore is ranked the third.

National Law School of Indian in Bengaluru is the top law institute in India and Indian Institute of Technology stands first in Architecture.
