At a time when the world strives to make brilliant breakthroughs in the field of science and technology, India is also an active participant in helping the world progress. The world’s fastest road car has been launched by luxury electric vehicles brand, Automobili Pininfarina, which is a part of the Mahindra Group.

Here are all the details of the fastest road car in the world – Battista!

Automobili Pininfarina’s Battista

The car was launched at the Geneva International Motor Show by Automobili Pininfarina. It is set t debut in 2020 and is said to be the most powerful car ever designed and built in Italy. The brake horsepower (BHP) of the car is 1900, which is twice as that of a Formula 1 car.

“This is the most authentic and exciting automotive story imaginable. The Battista is the hypercar of the future, inspired by a legendary past,” said Automobili Pininfarina CEO Michael Perschke.

This is not the first attempt by Pininfarina to build an electric car. In 2008, Pininfarina made an effort to manufacture an electric car, but the plans fell through due to the company’s financial troubles. This car was set to travel 30mph in 5 seconds, top speed 85mph and range of 125 miles.

Battista’s Features

Battista is the world’s first hypercar, which can run at a speed more than 350 kph. The car can go from 0 to 300 in less than 12 seconds. Also, the car is electric and can go 450 kilometers on a single charge. The car will flaunt an achievement, “unachievable today in any road-legal sports car featuring internal combustion engine technology.”

As the car is absolutely electric, pollution and emissions won’t be a problem anymore. Moreover, the car shows a bright possibility of being a huge success due to no heating up issues like other cars which run on petrol.

There is a T-shaped battery along the center and behind the seats, thus giving designers more space to work with.

Mahindra’s Stake in Automobili Pininfarina

Mahindra Group, one of India’s top automobile manufacturers, holds a massive stake in Battista’s company, Automobili Pininfarina, which they bought in 2015. Mahindra is making huge progress where globalization is concerned, it is already the owner of a South Korean car company SsangYong Motor. Additionally, they also have a team in the Formula E racing series.

It was the Mahindra Group who employed the expertise and resources and helped Pininfarina extend to the production of cars from designing them. Anand Mahindra, CEO of Mahindra Group, declared his plans of making cars luxurious, exclusive and collectible even if they are electric.

“Why is Mahindra betting on the luxury segment? Because there will also be vehicles that people will want to buy because they are objects of desire and passion,” said Mr. Mahindra.
