Umang App Offering 1220 Govt. Services

After a delay of a year, Govt. of India has finally launched the much awaited UMANG App, which will now provide 1200 Govt. services, covering both Centre and State Govt. under one single app.

Right now, the services is based on a single app, but very soon, a desktop version would be launched, and facility to access it without Internet, using USSD codes, would be also unveiled.

What Can You Actually Do With UMANG?

Literally anything which Govt. offers as services for citizens.

UMANG will eventually support 1200 Govt. services, from hundreds of State and Centre Departments, integrating everything under one roof.

We had reported last year that Govt. is planning to launch UMANG last December, but due to the sheer scale of the project, the launch got delayed. The app was launched by PM Modi yesterday, during a global conference on cyber space.

As of now, around 162 Govt. services across 32 Govt. departments from 4 states are already live on the platform.

The app has been developed by Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology and the National e-Governance Division (NeGD).

UMANG app will be soon linked with Aadhaar as well, thereby completing the circuit for a fully integrated, scalable application for e-Governance.

As per Govt. records, through UMANG, an Indian citizen can:

  • View CBSE and NCERT exam centers, exam results and even class wise course content
  • View and check AICTE approved colleges pan-India
  • Get access to current trends and market rates of crops, find out ways to improve farming and information about pesticides
  • Access information about Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana (PMKVY) and find relevant skill training centres and jobs
  • Access programs by Ministry of Housing and Urban Poverty Alleviation
  • Book appointments across Govt. hospitals
  • Know how to insure crops
  • Access DigiLocker system
  • Access Bharat Bill Payment System (BBPS)
  • Know about the latest updates related to Employees Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) services (open account, close account, transfer funds)
  • And more!

How To Access UMANG

You can directly visit the Govt. website for UMANG, or download it from the Google Play Store.

Besides, you can also give a missed call or send an SMS to 97183-97183 to get the direct download link.

Once downloaded, you will be required to register using your mobile number, and it is recommended you use the number linked with Aadhaar because later, Aadhaar verification will be made mandatory to access it.

Besides, several Govt. services is right now using Aadhaar based verification for accessing some of the services, hence using Aadhaar-linked mobile number is strongly recommended for using UMANG.
